Italyan Thrash Metal grubu Violentor ilk albümlerini Emb Records ile piyasaya sunarken albüme de verdikleri isim için çok ugrasmadilar "Violentor". Bildiginiz üzere EBM Records çatisi altinda ülkemizin basarili gruplarindan Thrashfire'da bulunuyor. Genel olarak bu firmada underground thrash metal yapitlari sergileniyor.
Grubun sarki yapisi bana biraz DRI ve Tankard tadi verdi. Imaj olarak daha sert ve karanlik bir tema kullanmayi tercih etmisler. Özellikle bana bu hissiyati "Too Loud" ve "My Stomach Strong and Fit" isimli parçalar verdi. Albümün genel yapisindaki punk ritimleri ve davul tonlari da grubun kökenlere sadik bir sekilde hareket ettigini bizlere yansitiyor. Dog vokallerde scream yerine, Lemmy vari bir vokal kullanmis, arka plandaki tekrar seklinde yer alan back vokallerde punk rock ve rock'n roll tarzini daha açik bir sekilde benimsememize ön ayak oluyor.
Albüm için özetle söyle diyebilirim, Brezilya yada Alman thrash metal'i gibi saldirgan ve bodoslama gitmiyor. Daha ritmik, melodik ve kismen de olsa keyifli, neseli rifler bulunuyor. Grubun imaji ile müzik biraz örtüsmemis. Imajlarini gördügümde black/thrash metal grubu ile karsilasacagimi düsünmeme neden olmuslardi. Ebm Records gerçekten dünya üzerinde ince eleyip sik dokuyan bir firma ve bos gruplari yok gibi...
Uzun lafin kisasi Violentor'u dinlemenizi siddetle tavsiye ederim,gayet keyifli bir speed/thrash ve yer yer punk metal karisimi saglanmis.

Like thrash metal? How about Motorhead? If you answered yes to either one (and I hope your answer is yes to both) then Italy's Violentor are the band for you! With a unique style of thrash that can only be described as "thrash n roll" Violentor have really separated themselves from the herd with their debut self titled album that was released last year through EBM Records. Just about any fan of heavy as fuck music should be instantly attracted to this band. Crushing riffs, brutal drumming, devastating bass mixed with some killer vocals are just a few reasons you need to get your hands on this mammoth release.
Violentor have simply blown me away with this album and after giving them a listen you too will feel like a twister of epic proportions just threw you an unmeasurable distance. Holy cow! These Italians really know how to rock n roll! Just got a chance to listen to this bad boy and I gotta tell you, it simply kicks butt! Hard rockin' guitar work and gruff vocals with insane bass lines and beats will have you desperately looking for the nearest mosh!
You know damn well that I try to avoid comparing bands to others, hell even some bands do this injustice to themselves; "Hey if you like Iron Maiden, then you'll love us!', but in the case of Violentor it's hard not to draw comparisons to the likes of Motörhead, I mean geezus, the vocals are as if Lemmy had a brother we didn't know about! But DO NOT BE MISTAKEN, VIolentor is not some Motörhead worshipping band, fuck no, it's just that the closest I can come to the vocal and rockin' style is Motörhead with a squeeze of Venom, a pinch of, dare I say, early Metallica and dash of Priest (check out "Genocide")!
Even Lemmy's irrefutable humor on many a Motörhead track can be heard on the insta-classic "My Stomach Strong and Fit" which, by the way, has some sick crunchy guitar work and smokin' leads!
I mean, these guys go above and beyond, even touching a tad bit on a crusty style of rockin' at times; it seems they are blending up everyone of your favorite bands, hittin' frappe and serving it up red fucking HOT! Hell, you gotta check out the black metal styled operatic intro to "Dismiss Evil" then compare it to the sick ass punk bass lines of "Go To Hell" and you'll understand where I am coming from.
This album is as solid debut as they come, Violentor's talent can't be refuted; fast, fun and hard hittin' what more do you need? |

Violentor is another of the EBM bands I've been reviewing lately. These guys are from Italy, and they play punk-infused thrash metal. Sort of like if Motorhead was on crank…ok maybe that's a bad comparison. It might be more appropriate to say Motorhead was on something even more speed-inducing, like crank, Ritalin, and 5 hour energy all in one. (I should note I'm not inferring anyone is doing illegal drugs; I'm simply attempting to be humorous.)
The first thing I thought of when listening to this album, though, really was Motorhead. Violentor don't sound like Lemmy clones, but they have the same reckless, loose sounding punk rock style that is the signature of Motorhead. While the punk influence is undeniable, this mutt's other parent was definitely metal in origin, perhaps Venom?
I'm having a hard time with forming an opinion again. On one hand, I don't normally go for this loose chaotic style of metal, but, on the other hand, it is also kind of catchy, and I really can't fault anything about the album other than my personal taste. I don't see myself reaching for this album again anytime soon, but I am enjoying it during this listen. Make of this what you will, I suppose. El sello EBM Records nos trae la propuesta numero 13 de su serie "Thrash is Back". Sale a la venta mañana martes 31 de enero.
Thrash Metal sucio y corrosivo desde Italia el que nos ofrece este trio, que combina la velocidad y crudeza de Motorhead con el sonido oscuro y venenoso de los primeros Venom. El resultado es una música sin pausa, sin tregua, Thrash, que daña el cerebro y con cierto punto que los diferencia de los demás. Tienen cierta influencia Punk y un punto thrash and roll jeje.
El trio se formo en 2009 desde siempre centrados en un sonido inspirado en la vieja escuela del speed/thrash visto desde su óptica. Este disco lo auto-editaron en 2010 ellos mismos, encargándose ellos mismos de el diseño y todo lo relacionado con el. Un año despues fichan por EMB records que les da la oportunidad de darse a conocer de manera mas internacional.
Son una banda con un directo muy potente, según ellos mismos es su fuerte, la banda ahora se encuentra centrada en la gira de promoción de este disco. Es curioso el sonido y la producción que han logrado con este disco que parece que fue grabado a fines de los 80's o inicios de los 90's, muy crudo y cañero.
Las canciones todas van en una misma linea, caña, caña y mas caña, no sueltan el pie del acelerados ni un minuto y thrashean como locos, no hay tregua para dejar de hacer headbanging. Buenos riff's de guitarras y marchas machacantes, gran trabajo del drumer.
El futuro para Violentor no se como sera, quizás brillante o quizás caigan en el olvido por que los designios de la industria de la música ya sabemos es una maquina de moler que muchas veces no perdona. De momento están aquí con su disco debut con 9 tracks de Speed / Heavy / Thrash sin concesiones. Recomiendo el disco para fans de: Venom, Motorhead, Tank, Running Wild, los primeros Megadeth y Mercyful Fate. |

Mi trovo oggi a recensire una band tutta nostrana, i toscani Violentor, autori di un gran bel Thrash Metal con pesanti influenze "motorheadiane", il tutto in un generale clima da festa alcolica che rende questo disco l'ideale per ogni party che si rispetti.
"Violentor" esce nel 2011 sotto l'egida della EBM records (per la quale ho già recensito gli ottimi lavori di Tormentor e Toxic Trace), e si presenta subito nella sua immediatezza come un lavoro indicato principalmente ai fan di un certo modo di suonare Thrash che si rifà soprattutto agli anni '80 e alla scuola Venom, Sodom eccetera. Batteria incalzante, riffing che pesca a piene mani in più occasioni da certo hardcore americano del secolo scorso e una voce bella tagliente e roca a coronare il tutto. Le canzoni si mantengono generalmente su ritmiche non eccessivamente veloci ma si pongono ugualmente in modo trascinante. Un complimento particolare va al vocalist la cui ugola sembra fatta apposta per il tipo di Thrash dei Violentor.
Il disco procede in modo liscio e vi sfido a non farvi entrare in testa il ritornello di songs come "My stomach strong and fit" (la mia preferita del lotto) e a lasciarvi andare al pogo folle prendendo a spallate vostra sorella/madre/zia/nonna sparandosi il disco a volumi folli, un gran bell'album di Metal old school arrogante e cafone, fatelo vostro.

Difficile non sentirsi letteralmente trasportati indietro di trent'anni mentre si ascolta l'omonimo debut-album dei toscani Violentor. Vengono in mente i tempi in cui il Rock ‘n' Roll dei Motorhead aveva un'aria molto più originale di oggi, il Thrash Metal iniziava a gettare le basi per ciò che sarebbe diventato in futuro e l'aria becera e sporca dei Venom iniziava a farsi strada tra la scena ottenendo il successo meritato.
Con questi presupposti, l'ascolto di “Violentor” possiede già un suo punto di avvio sonoro che accompagna piacevolmente in questa mezzoretta scarsa di suono marcio, dalla tirata veloce mai eccessiva e dai riff che, saranno anche già sentiti mille volte, ma che vengono qui riprodotti fedelmente avvalendosi di una produzione ottimale che valorizza l'intera proposta dei nostri.
Un trio che suona con potenza è difficile che passi inosservato e di fatti i Violentor possedono anche il carisma necessario per poter far fronte ad una così difficile missione. Certamente non è possibile raggiungere l'apice dell'originalità ma non credo che alla band importi più di tanto. Suona proto-Thrash, guarda anche al vecchio Punk e strizza l'occhio al Rock e al Thrash ‘n' Roll tipicamente vecchia scuola e fa tutto ciò in modo opportuno senza mai eccedere né fare risultare un sound costruito a tavolino o quantomeno spocchioso, niente di tutto questo.
“Violentor” è un disco onesto all'ennesima potenza che moltissime persone (me compreso) riusciranno ad apprezzare; è vero, bisogna prenderlo per quello che è, semplice e diretto, esplicito ma non presuntuoso, poco o per nulla tecnico ma adatto a generare un bel concerto se presentato in sede live, insomma, il debut album della band italiana è davvero una buona prova e un ottimo tributo, il resto delle inutili congetture lo lascio ai finti “premi Pulitzer” del giornalismo musicale. |

Agli albori, punk e metal non erano solo due generi musicali, ma due vere e proprie filosofie di pensiero: una loro contaminazione, nei primi anni '70, era impensabile, per non dire oltraggiosa, anche considerando che le risse fra le due fazioni erano accese e non certo rare. Chiaramente non è in questa sede che si può pensare di affrontare un argomento così complesso come la contrapposizione fra capelli lunghi e creste, pertanto basti ribadire che, fino all'avvento di alcune band seminali, un ibrido fra le caratteristiche dell'heavy metal e del punk, fosse anche quello più duro, era una vera e propria chimera. Ma, un giorno, dal brodo primordiale (ok, forse sto un po' esagerando) sorsero i Motorhead , in tutta probabilità il primo gruppo a combinare caratteristiche comuni ai due generi (anche se Lemmy continua a sostenere che la sua band suoni del semplice rock ‘n' roll); successivamente la NWOBHM portò rapidità di esecuzione ed attitudine stradaiola nel metal, per poi veder nascere al suo interno un altro gruppo fondamentale come i Venom , che aprirono la strada a quella che è probabilmente la fusione definitiva fra punk e metal: il thrash.
Questa mia lunga introduzione serve a presentarvi i nostrani Violentor : questi ragazzi, originari di Lucca, si rifanno difatti esattamente al thrash metal dei primordi. Scordatevi la raffinatezza melodica e la tecnica eccelsa dei primi Metallica e Megadeth , perché i nostri amici toscani propongono ventinove minuti di puro, grezzo, rozzo e brutale thrash metal old school, debitore senz'ombra di dubbio delle band citate nell'introduzione. Ciò è manifesto sin dalla prima traccia, Too Loud , assolutamente accattivante nella sua rozzezza. Le chitarre sono marce a sufficienza, il basso in sottofondo conferisce corposità al sound, la batteria pesta ed il cantante Ale vomita tutta la sua rabbia con uno stile ispirato al già citato maestro Lemmy . Il massacro sonoro prosegue nella successiva Awakened in Death , che potrebbe sembrare un brano degli Slayer di Show No Mercy , mentre nel terzo brano abbiamo il primo, irriverente colpo di genio dei Violentor : di per sé il brano My Stomach Strong and Fit non è molto diverso dai due che lo precedono, ma il poderoso rutto che lo introduce vale da solo un ascolto. La grande caratteristica di questi ragazzi, difatti, è il prendersi poco sul serio; non hanno alcuna intenzione di cambiare il volto della musica, bensì si limitano a fare un roboante e sanissimo macello sferzando i loro strumenti e le loro ugole nella maniera più atroce possibile. Questo, naturalmente, fa sì che i brani non siano certo ricercati e raffinati dal punto di vista tecnico o compositivo, il che ci permette di ascoltarli con leggerezza, senza troppo soffermarci sulla qualità sonora. Mi permetto pertanto di segnalare soltanto due curiosità riguardo alle canzoni successive presenti in questo album: Dismiss the Evil , difatti, che a sua volta segue gli stilemi già ampiamente sottolineati, si apre con un'intro che davvero non vi aspettereste. No, tranquilli, non si tratta di un altro rutto, bensì di un breve estratto dell'epico Dies Irae di Mozart . Niente male, no? In seconda battuta, infine, la conclusiva Go to Hell dà spazio ad alcuni dei pochissimi inserti solistici dell'album, vale a dire una serie di interessanti passaggi di basso fortemente debitori dei soliti Motorhead .
L'essenza dei Violentor e del loro album è dunque questa: niente orpelli tecnici, zero raffinatezza, zero stratificazioni sonore. I nostri amici lucchesi ci sparano in faccia nove bordate di purissimo metal vecchia scuola, malato, marcio e veloce quanto basta a garantirci una mezz'ora di sanissimo headbanging. Da questo punto di vista l'attitudine del gruppo va assolutamente elogiata e premiata. Da un altro punto di vista, tuttavia, tutto si può dire tranne che la proposta della band sia innovativa o di qualità sfavillante: un purista della tecnica probabilmente proverà disgusto di fronte a nove canzoni cattive al punto giusto, ma discretamente simili fra loro, registrate con un'atmosfera da garage e prive di un qualunque virtuosismo. Dare un giudizio finale, pertanto, non è semplice. Come ho appena detto, possiamo tranquillamente affermare che un supporter della prima ondata del thrash troverà questo album un potenziale capolavoro, dal momento che effettivamente possiede tutte le qualità necessarie unite alla giusta brutalità; al tempo stesso, invece, chi ricerca musica di qualità elevata deve tenersi sicuramente alla larga dall'album, poiché finirà per provare noia e fastidio dopo poche tracce. Il mio voto, come tale, non vuole fare un torto a nessuno e rappresenta una via di mezzo fra un disco insufficiente ed un capolavoro. |

Crush up some vintage Motorhead, mix in some some vintage Venom and some 1982 Discharge, mix it all together and drink it – then you might know how Italy's Violentor sounds. Fucking for real, this band plays that kind of acid thrash that can melt bones. The band's new 9-song album out now on EBM records never surrenders; it's a vicious battle from beginning to end. This band takes me straight back to my teenage years with their brand of blackened speed metal, & with each blast from the double bass drum, it takes you closer to the destroyer! Riffs on top of gnarly riffs, my head can not stop moving & I don't want this record to stop…it's a fucking energy injection. There is nothing fake about this record, it's bare bones nuclear thrash that wants to slap posers in the freaking grill. Don't get it twisted, as much as this band is metal, these dude have punk blood flowing through their veins, so be aware. Violentor's vocalist spits his wild hateful angst all over each track. This band has the gas mask boogie as a part of their sound, basically they will keep you movin & groovin. I will not single out one track, because like I said just take this album as a motherfucking rocking album that you need in your life NOW! |
